So here's what I'm thinking:
I want to do more "rhetorical" comics. I have in mind
something about communication and drums, which
probably makes even less sense than that sentence.
I also have in mind a sort of handbook/roadmap of
the view of the future from "today, today being whenever
I start writing it. And I'm actually making notes about
a WWI-related project, as you may have guessed from
my odd question the other day. Maps! Diagrams!
All the stuff that worried the shit out of Avatar when I
was writing CRECY!
I definitely want to go back to the FELL format, or
something very like it, with something that's a bit
bloody easier to write (and with four times as many
backups as I had on my old computer, haha fuck).
I'm also thinking a lot more about black-and-white.
Which is death, of course, in this market. But there's
a directness about b/w I like. Also, economies and
simplicities. And just liking the way it looks when it's
done right. B/W also comes with its own semiotics:
historicity, spookiness, perhaps even seriousness
of purpose.
As I said, I'll probably be doing less comics in general
in 2010. I have the film, maybe an animated thing,
the book, and I've been talking with BERG about a couple
of things. Also I need to sit down with Jan Chipchase
at some point. And I'm still peering at MagCloud.
But comics are good.
